Whitewater and Flatwater GPS Points of Interest (POI) for Auto GPS DevicesThese files contain waypoints for driving to various put-ins, take-outs, boat ramps, restaurants, pools, campgrounds, NPFF - anything that might be of interest to BWA and flatwater paddlers and that are not usually in standard GPS POI lists that come with the devices. This is a work in progress. We are still collecting information. For now, the cost of using this is that you must supply any POIs that we don't have, especially of put-ins and take-outs of popular rivers. Send files to the webmaster. See the current list of POIs in the map and table below. Rivers desperately needed: Nanty, Yough, Benson Creek, Ocoee, French Broad, Gauley and others... |

Garmin uses a .gpx file format for POIs. To transfer the file to your device, get Garmin's POI Loader here: http://www8.garmin.com/products/poiloader/ and point it to the directory you downloaded the file to. The custom POIs will show up under the Extras icon. To help add new POIs to our file, get waypoints saved in your device under Favorites transferred to your PC and saved as a .gpx file, or to create waypoints directly on your PC, get Garmin's Base Camp software here: http://www.garmin.com/us/products/onthetrail/basecamp. Send clean files (containing just new whitewater related POIs) to the webmaster. You can also use Base Camp to import, then transfer the points to your device. It will put them under the Favorites icon instead of the Extras icon. |
